Program Overview
This healthcare administration program gives the students understanding of healthcare systems,
policy, research and management. It will also give them the ability to apply this knowledge to
daily situations.
Objectives
Understanding of health as a complex social construct
Knowledge and respect the diverse values, beliefs, contributions, and health care needs of all
populations and communities
Understanding the importance of passion, commitment and enthusiasm for health care
administration in a variety of settings including locally and globally
Introducing students to the historical, theoretical, and practical framework of community
development
Understanding a broad overview of the health-care field and health issues, and explore the
nature and causes of major health-care problems
Health Care Administration Program
The diploma and advanced diploma program is designed for those students seeking a two-year
rather than four-year degree. The program stand alone but may also be the foundation for further
study at the bachelor’s level. The program at AIES are meant to be taken in four semesters and
consist of 60 credit hours.
Diploma (Level 4)
First Semester
HEAL 101 - Introduction to Human Health (I) | 3 credits
HEAL 119 - Introduction to Health Information Technology | 3 credits
HCA 104 - Economics of Health Care | 3 credits
COMP 101 - Introduction to Computer Science | 3 credits
ENG 101 - English Composition | 3 credits
Second Semester
HEAL 180 - Current Issues in Health and Community Services | 3 credits
HEAL 190 - Health and Society | 3 credits
HCA 105 - Health Issues: Health and Healing | 3 credits
HCA 110 - Community Health Planning | 3 credits
POLI 100 - Introduction to International Politics | 3 credits
Program duration: Two semesters. Each semester is 5 months long with approximately 40 hours per
week.
Assessment methods: In order to complete the program successfully, students will be required to
pass all subjects and achieve an overall passing grade.
Certification: To be awarded the certificate you must satisfactorily complete all written
contributions. Successful students will receive a Certificate, awarded by the Board of Studies of
AIES. A transcript detailing the course will be issued to successful students.
